Chuck CONNORS, famed star of "The Rifleman" series, has shared·
the entertainment limelight as a professional ball player, actor, producer in
WALK motion pictures, television (mini-series. long run series and episodic
specials) and stage. . ·
He si,ned on as a .first baseman with the New York Yankees and was
OF later claimed bt the Army and assigned to the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point. A~er the war he went to the Brooklyn Dodgers (minol's), ~s
sold to the Chicago Cubs then went on to the Los Afll~·Angels (Pacific
FAME Coast League). · . · · ·
Connors caught the eye of director WIiiiam Wyler for a role in "The Big
Country." He followed that with parts in more than 65 TV shows before he
HONOREE landed the prize lead in "The Rifleman U. series. · The Connors name is
synonymous with the outstanding .roles he has created in such classic.
series as "Branded," "Arrest and Trial," and "The Rifleman." His gripping
performance in the 1976 NBC mini-series "Roots" earned him an Emmy'.
Award Nomination. His film .credits include leading parts in "Pat and
Mike," "Good Morning Miss Dove," ."Hold Back the Night," "Hired Gun,"
"Old Yeller," "The Eig Country," "Geronimo," "Ride Beyond Revence,"
"Support Your Local Gunfig_hter," "Pancho Villa," "Day of the AssaSSln,"
CHUCK "Red Alert West," "Target Eagle," "Airplane II, The·Sequel," "Kelsey and
Son" and many other films.
His television accomplishments include "Cowboy in Africa," "Stone,"
CONNORS "The Yellow Rose," "Set the Town on Fire," "Police Story," "Banjo
Hackett," "Roots," "Niehtmare in Bantham County," "The Night They
Took Miss Beautiful," l'i"Standing Tall," "The Texan," "The Capture of
Grizzly Adams," "Lone Star," and "Spencer for Hire."
His episodic specials included "The Profane Comedy," "The Birdman of
Beckstadt,'' "Six Million Dollar Man," "Walking Tall,'' "Great Mysteries of
Hollywood," "Fantasy Island," "Best of the West," "Celebrity Daredevils,"
and the "Great American Cowboy." He also performed major stage roles in
"Mary, Mary," "The Button," "My Three Angels," and "love on the
Cusp." .
Connors is the father of four children and lives on a ranch near
Tehachapi.
