''The greatest!'' was the
                                                                       administration's reaction to Sau-
                                                                       gus High.  Led by Dr.  Myron
                                                                       Sproul,  coming from Bowman
                                                                       Continuation School after 22
                                                                       years in the district,  the counse-
                                                                       lors,  dean,  and vice principal
                                                                       worked to create an atmosphere
                                                                       conducive to education.
                                                                         In July 1974 Dr.  Sproul was
                                                                       named principal of Saugus High.
                                                                       From the beginning he consid-
                                                                       ered it ''an






                                                                       to be a pan of the staff and stu -
                                                                       dent body. '' His duties ranged
                                                                       from selection of furniture and
                                                                       equipment,  to hiring teachers,  to
                                                                       development of curriculum,  and
                                                                       registration of students.
                                                                         Working toward better commu-
                                                                       nity-school communication,  Mr.
                                                                       Kirk Alger,  vice principal, for-
                                                                       merly dean at Placerita,  was also
                                                                       the laison for the contractor and
                                                                       district as they worked well into
                                                                       the year to complete the build-
                                                                       ing.
                                                                         Dean Ben Greene,  previously
                                                                       Dean of Student Activities at
                                                                       Hart, faced the tasks of main-
                                                                       taining discipline,  working with
                                                                       student government as the
                                                                       administrative representative,
