You sit with the same students in class, you hang out in the same
group, and you pass the same exact guy on your way off campus every
day of school.
How many times have you really seen any of these people?
Have you taken the time to focus on the people who are a part
of your life, whether you've chosen them to be or not? With the million
other things you have racing around in your head, you'll see that it's
pretty hard to do.
You'll discover that it's kind of difficult (maybe even uncomfort-
able) to take time out from your busy world to look into the world of
another.
In fact, it's tempting to look away and let your ideas, your
opinions, and your feelings turn into responses, stereotypes, and
blurred receptions.
But it makes you curious, doesn't it?
- To look into the eyes of a peer and see just who he or she
really is.
- To appreciate that the faculty and the staff, who have such
an impact on you, are also individuals with family, friends, and outside
lives.
- To take a step back from the chaos of high school life to
indulge yourself in digging deeper, in finding out more about what
each person is doing.
Now you can take a closer look at the reality of those around
you.
Now you can focus on ensuring that you can put your
attention where it counts.
