a RESTORATION COMMITTEE REPORT

8 A. COMMITTEE MEETING: The Restoration Committee of the SCVHS meet on Sunday
July 13, 1997. The Chair reported on: 1) Board of Directors' Meeting (JUN97) -
Funds approved for construction of Mitchell Adobe Ramada ($500.00) and
n Boardwalk ($500.00)i Restoration Budget submitted for Fiscal Year 1997-1998 =
$168,160.00; "Chain-of-Title" research still in progress; Security equipment and
activation requested for Edison House; Confirmation of insurance coverage for
interior furnishings at Kingsburry residence requested; Adhoc committee formed
to oversee Mogul 1629 Locomotive Restoration to static display Project; Funds
approved for purchase of video tapes for duplication of "Points of Interest ..
programs for sale in gift shop; Antique Faire set for Sept. 27-28 with "Harts of
the West"; and Bulletin Board on site for use as exterior Station Information
Center. 2) Chair requested expense total for fiscal year 1996-1997 at the
Kingsburry Residence for insurance purposes from new project chair, Ms. JOAN
RHETT. 3) Heritage Park included within boundaries of Redevelopment Map
approved by City requested? 4) Dispatch report by Don Woelke concerning
Blacksmith Shop committee and tradesmen help.
B. COMMITTEE PLANNING: The following plans were discussed:
1) KINGSBURRY: Transfere of project chair from Judy Holland to Joan Rhett,
l1 from Oak Of the Golden Dream Questers• Group (the remaining active Questers•
group>. Progress report: Latice work around foundation with access pannels at
vents; Handicap ramp needed at back stairs? Not needed by law for historic
houses and Not if doorway width less than 36"; Interior lighting fixtures?
kerosene style; Ants inside house (Paul to research purchase large quanity of
crystal ant bait for all structures); Living room needs light fixture; drapery
and furniture; Second bedroom to be decorated as child 1 s room; and Open house
tour desired one day/month: Which Day?.
2) NEWHALL RAICH: Application of new lath completed (40,000 lin ft) and
insulation completed except below floor (cost $3,300.00); Kitchen window removed
and covered with siding; Storage cupboard created in small closet with access
from stairwell; Railing material milled from redwood and due on site this week
(needs paint, cut, and assemblage); Chimney needs to be jacked up and regrount;
Electrical outlet rings increased to 5/8" thickness for new lath/ plaster walls;
Security wiring installed; Copper & ABS piping installed; Solid stain for doors
purchased to match the color of other doors; Material for plaster on site
($2,000.00 deposit paid); First contract with Patrick O'leil Lath and Plaster Co.
signed for $12,000.00 to cover 4,000 sq ft of walls; Second contract for
remaining 2,300 sq ft of first floor walls/ceilings pending approval of FEXA
request for extension and funding of $5,000.00. Historically correct Gas powered
"RUDD" instant water heater (c1920s) is available for $75.00 from L&M Striping.
