August 3, 1996 — Groundbreaking ceremony for the city of Santa Clarita's Creekview Park in East Newhall. The city built the 8.5-acre park on property it leases from The Master's University, whose land straddles and includes Newhall Creek. The park is located at 22200 Park Street, on the southwestern bank of the creek.

American Landscape Inc. was selected as the prime contractor and awarded a $332,700 construction contract. The work was completed and the park opened May 3, 1997, with a full, lighted basketball court, a children's play area, picnic tables, a sand volleyball court and public restrooms.

As indicated in the photographs, Councilman Carl Boyer was mayor at the time of the groundbreaking.
