Buster Crabbe in "Gunfighters of Abilene"
Melody Ranch | Placerita Canyon

Six of a set of eight 11x14-inch lobby cards (Nos. 3-8) advertising the Robert E. Kent (Vogue Pictures) production of "Gunfighters of Abilene" starring Buster Crabbe, Barton MacLane and Rachel Ames ("General Hospital") (as Judith Ames).

Released by United Artists on January 1, 1960, "Gunfighters of Abilene" was filmed on location at Gene Autry's Melody Ranch studio in Placerita Canyon and at the Iverson Ranch in Chatsworth. "Outdoor" scenes among the oak trees would be in Placerita Canyon.

Filming probably took place during 1959, although the lobby cards bear a copyright date of 1958 at lower left. The number at lower right, 59/145, means "Gunfighters of Abilene" was the 145th film for which National Screen Service Corp. generated and distributed advertising materials in 1959.

Rounding out the cast are Russell Thorson, Lee Farr, Eugenia Paul, Jan Arvan, Richard Devon, Richard H. Cutting, Kenneth MacDonald, Reed Howes, Jack Kenney, Boyd "Red" Morgan, Hank Patterson and Arthur Space.
