Detail of Fred Lamkin's Newhall Garage entry in Newhall's 1934 Fourth of July Parade. Lamkin was an organizer of Newhall's first July 4 parades in the 1930s.

Lamkin operated a well-trafficked auto garage and eventually held the local Chevrolet franchise, operating a dealership on the street successively known as Spruce/San Fernando/Main and competing in business with nearby Clymore Ford.

We can't be certain, but that might be Fred's son Ted in the "car" being towed. Ted was helpful to SCV history by making a photographic duplicate copy of A.B. Perkins' entire local historic photo collection in the 1960s.
