Laemmle Newhall Theatre Groundbreaking Ceremony

October 17, 2018 — Laemmle Theatres principals, elected officials and community members celebrate the official groundbreaking for a future seven-screen art house-type Laemmle Theatre, coming soon to Old Town Newhall.

The new Laemmle location (pronounced LEM-lee) will be located at the northeast corner of Railroad Avenue and Lyons Avenue, immediately north of the city-owned parking structure.

Laemmle Newhall will include seven screens with approximately 500 total seats for moviegoers. The chain of theatres is known for showcasing independent, foreign and art house cinema. The Newhall location is scheduled to open by the end of 2019.

May 10, 2018 — The Old Town Newhall Parking Structure is complete and open to the public. Guests can enter the parking structure from 9th Street, between Railroad Avenue and Main Street.

March 6, 2017 — The City broke ground on the parking structure. The parking structure is the first of the projects to enter into construction and will include 372 parking stalls and a special event area on the rooftop deck. Construction is estimated to be completed in 14 months.

July 12, 2016 — City Council awarded a contract for design-build services to Swinerton Builders, for the parking structure.

March 27-April 21, 2016 — Parking will be unavailable on the mixed use project block while the City of Santa Clarita performs necessary site due diligence related to the parking structure.

March 22, 2016 — City Council awarded a contract for a bridging architect and construction support services to Walker Parking Consultants, Inc. for the proposed parking structure and awarded a contract related to environmental testing.

February 9, 2016 — Purchase and Sale Agreements with Laemmle Newhall, LLC and Old Town-Main, LLC were approved by City Council to sell two pieces of the property for the development of a Laemmle Theatre, projected to include 7 screens and approximately 500 seats, and a Mixed Use Project, developed by Serrano Development Group, which is estimated to include approximately 20,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 46 residential units with subterranean parking. The City also embarked on a design-build process for the development of a 400-stall parking structure on the remaining portion of the property.

July 14, 2015 — The City of Santa Clarita entered into exclusive negotiations with Laemmle Theaters and Serrano Development Group/Pacific Coast Housing Development related to the sale of the block of property bounded by Main Street, Lyons Avenue, Railroad Avenue, and 9th Street.
