           One of the important aspects
of the school day was unassigned
time. Students could use this time
         in many ways.
           Chemistry and physics classes
         were open lab. Unassigned time
was a necessary part of a phys-
         ical science student's schedule.
This time was used to experiment
         and to study.
Many people used this time to
do homework, or to do research
in the library. Others used it as a
time in which to confer with teach-
ers for help. It was also nice to
have a little free time to chat with
friends, or to take a break and
         give one's mind a rest.
           At times, special exhibits, dem-
         onstrations, or guest speakers were
on campus. Students could use their
         unassigned time for these activities
also. All in all, unassigned time
was a very useful, and necessary
         part of the school day.
