Grappling their
way to an 8 win, 2 loss
record and a strong showing in numerous tournaments, Hart's
1973-74 wrestlers put together a super season under the direc-
tion of Coach Joe Hall. Wrestling in a CIF free lance league
composed of 15 schools, Hart's mat men entered only varsity
competition. All JV competitors forfeited their matches and
wrestled only for exhibition due to the fact that only four
were in that class.
Four wrestlers made outstanding showings, taking first
places in league finals. They were Jim Luster, 20 wins, 4
losses, 13 pins;Jim Mayo, 24 wins, 7 losses, 1 tie, 11 pins;
Jesse Montemayor, 15 wins, 6 losses, 7 pins; and Rod Sim-
mons, 19 wins, 7 losses, 1 tie, 9 pins. Rod went on to compete
in the State level competition. J im Luster also received the
Most Outstanding Wrestler award.
