Wet and wild
practices were held
every day after school at the Newhall pool for Hart's first
season of W acer polo. They were members of the Mar-
monte League and three of the boys made the All Mar-
monte League team. These boys were Marty Kurylo,John
Schmidt, and Jay Janus. Other awards went to Marry
Kurylo, who· won the "Algae Man" award for being the
funkiest guy on the team. Brian Grade won the Scholar
Athlete award for attaining the highest academic record
while participating in water polo. Two awards, Most
Improved Player and Highest Point Scorer, went to John
Schmidt for scoring 12 out of 19 attempts. The team did
quite well considering that they were a first year team com-
peting in a well established league.
