Two Indian
maids chased braves
over hills and through fields. For the first time, two of
Hart's fleer-footed girls ran with the cross country ream.
These two girls were Suzy Leathers and Melinda Reiber.
Mr. Grande, the cross country coach, had the pleasure of
coaching many excellent runners this year. Last year Rich-
ard Burns set the record time for Hart's two mile cross
country course, and this year Tom Cusick, who was voted
the most outstanding runner and who was also the varsity
team captain, came within twelve seconds of that record.
Some of the other excellent runners were Walt Van Der
Heyden, most inspirational runner, Bill Mentor, most
improved; and Brian Bishop was awarded a trophy for
being the scholar athlete. The sophomore ream did so well
that all of them were awarded junior varsity letters, except
for one, their ream captain, Craig Rousseau, who received a
varsity letter for being the most outstanding sophomore
runner. All three reams got together and decided that Rose
Martinez would be their sweetheart.
