Everybody's


                                                             Working  For  The


                                                                        Weekend

                                                            As  we all know, we high school students cannot live
                                                            by school alone. We thrive on extra-curricular activi-
                                                            ties  to  add  to  our  lives.  For  most  of  us,  this  extra
                                                            activity took the form of a job. Staffing nearly every
                                                            fast food franchise on Lyons  A venue and entertain-
                                                            ment centers such as the Mann 6 Theatres and Mag-
                                                            ic  Mountain,  Hart  students  were  observed  laboring
                                                            countless hours, earning as much money as possible.
                                                            Incentive for such fervent exertion came from each
                                                            approaching weekend. Everybody's working for the
                                                            weekend!

                                                            Except for  money stashed  away by frugal  college-
                                                            bound seniors,  nearly every hard earned dollar was
                                                            spent  on  the  weekend.  The  local  theatre,  record
                                                            store and clothing store were responsible for snatch-
                                                            ing up most of our funds.

                                                            Hit movies such as  Raiders of the Lost Ark, Superman
                                                             II,  Stripes, and  Arthur,  were seen  over and  over by
                                                            Hart's  student  body.  Record  after  record  was  re-
                                                            leased,  and  record  after  record  was  purchased.
                                                            While some students enjoyed the pop-beat of teen
                                                            favorites such as Journey, Pat Benatar, and the Go-
                                                            Go's; other students preferred the sophisticated and
                                                            worldly-wise  music  of  greats  such  as  Bruce  SP'4ng-
                                                            steen and Jackson Browne.

                                                            Music meant more than merely records and tapes-it
                                                            meant concerts!  1982 was the year that the Rolling
                                                            Stones, Pat Benatar, and Journey came to town. No
                                                            doubt, Hart students were there to make them feel
                                                            welcome.

                                                            To  other  students,  the  extra-curricular  spice  came
                                                            from everything Linder the sun  - from sports, to horse
                                                            ranching,  to watching the daily soap operas.

                                                            Busy  at  school,  work,  or  play,  Hart  students  were
                                                            always on the go in  '82. It was a time to get a taste
                                                            of life by holding jobs and having the freedoms that
                                                            come from  having extra money:  Only  to learn  one
                                                            thing  . . .  lite had just begun.            ·
