        violence is a distilled version of the violence pervading the whole society. AVP created a structure, process, and
        exercises for workshops that help inmates develop their human potential. Suzann is a prison coordinator at the
        California Institution for Men, Chino. Her responsibilities include arranging the AVP program there, and orga-
        nizing and recruiting facilitators for the workshops.
        Biography: Susann graduated from California State University at Northridge in 1967 with a major in politi-
        cal science and a minor in sociology then went on to obtain her Standard Secondary Teaching Credential. She
        moved to the SCV in 1968. She taught for five years in public and private secondary schools (including two
        years at Placerita Junior High School) and then managed a dental office for several years. She completed her
        career with a major national insurance company, specializing in quality assurance for managed care dental pro-
        grams with responsibility for conforming the company’s quality management policies and procedures to state
        regulations in multiple states. In the ‘70s she founded the SCVs first League of Women Voters and recently at-
        tended a meeting of the newly re-organized League. As the co-chair of the Unitarian Social Justice Committee,
        she has planned movie nights on justice topics such as hunger, world water issues, human trafficking, woman’s
        rights, etc., and helped to organize local events pertaining to these issues.

        Organizational Impact: This year Lindsay was instrumental in pushing
        the JCI Santa Clarita annual 40 Under 40 Awards to new heights and helped recognize and bring attention to
        valuable members of our community under 40 years of age. Lindsay has made herself available as a profes-
        sional photographer for numerous nonprofit events in the past and continues to do so. In addition, her company
        Schlick Art does a great deal of its business by empowering women and men through photography by providing
        professional headshots and beauty days for women and men.
        Biography: Lindsay came to Santa Clarita several years ago and opened her photography studio with her hus-
        band, Brian Schlick, and at the same time become deeply involved in her new city. She is an amazing person
        with endless energy for helping those in need.

        Organizational Impact: Suzanne Stone is the backbone of our organization. She understands the ins and outs
        of every department and is always willing to jump in and help. She understands all about our financials and is
        an asset to our treasurer. She is always willing to do a New Member Orientation to give our new members and
        our older members a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Soroptimist. Suzanne has become a Spot-
        light Arts Center “Core” Parent. This group offers free after-school classes in the arts, and Suzanne volunteers
