Organizational Impact: Gloria is a passionate volunteer and leader in our community, the community where
she grew up and has lived her entire life. Her leadership at Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, Inc. (SDFHC)
includes being a board member of SDFHC the past 5 years and current chair of the board for 3 years. Gloria
has guided our organization to achieve status as a Federally Qualified Health Center, achieve national recog-
nition as a Patient Centered Medical Home, secured federal and local grants, established partnerships with
local nonprofits, expanded patient access at our Newhall and Canyon Country locations, and expanded our
dental and mental health services. Her work with nonprofit organizations has help improve the quality of life
for the residents of the SCV. Gloria has been named SCV Top 51 Most Influential for the past 10 years; Elite
Magazine, Ultimate Female Community Leader 2017; SCV Boys and Girls Club, Board Member of the Year
2016; WiSH Education Foundation, Hart School District Alumni of the Year, 2015, Single Mothers Outreach,
Empowering Hearts Honoree, 2013; Community Leader of the Year, SCV Latino Chamber of Commerce 2010,
and Zonta Woman of the Year Nominee, American Cancer Society, 2005.
Biography: As a life-long resident, Gloria’s roots run deep in the Santa Clarita Valley. She has been an active
member of our community and has demonstrated a lifetime commitment to public service and volunteerism.
Gloria is a graduate of the William S. Hart School District. She holds a unique place in the district’s history
as the only alumna to have taught for the Hart district and subsequently been elected to the school board for
four terms. During her 16-year tenure, the school district grew from 11,000 students to approximately 23,000
students and is one of the top performing high school districts in the state. Prior to serving on the Hart Board,
Gloria also served on the Castaic Union School District Governing Board and was a founding member of the
Castaic Town Council. An educator by profession, Gloria has served as a teacher, counselor, principal, and
assistant superintendent, including working in the second largest school district in the country, the Los Angeles
Unified School District, where she supervised 125 schools and supervised a budget of over $200 million. Cur-
rently she is the chief executive officer of Global Education Solutions, Inc., working statewide to train future
leaders, transform education and make schools the best that they can be. Having lost her mother to cancer,
Gloria co-founded the SCV Unit of the American Cancer Society in 1994 and established the Relay for Life,
Daffodil Days, and Luminaria events for the Santa Clarita Valley. Gloria holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from
California State University, Northridge; Masters of Science Degree, School Administration and Management,
Pepperdine University; Masters of Science from LaVerne University in Educational Psychology. She also holds
a Masters in Governance from the California School Boards Association. Gloria has also taught as an Adjunct
Professor at California State University, Los Angeles, Mission College and College of the Canyons. She enjoys
spending time with her family, friends, her husband Bruce and their border collie, Lexi.
