American dreams
created Saugus High
stated Dr. William Banowsky, pres-
ident of Pepperdine University and
keynote speaker at Saugus' dedica-
tion, May 6, 1975. Education was
the core of. the American Dream ,
which vanished during the 1960's.
Dr. Banowsky feels that the youth of
today, with a realistic, not a per-
fectionistic view of the world, are
reviving the hope of the American
Dream. His charge to Saugus was to
"preserve freedom of the individual
and the soul of education."
Mrs. Ruth Newhall, managing
editor of the Newhall Signal, rela-
ted the history of the Santa Clarita
Valley and presented a community
view of Saugus High.
Also speaking on the program ,
placing the traditional Open House,
were: Dr. Clyde Smyth, superin-
tendent: Gina Paggi, ASB president;
and Mr. Louis Brathwaite, president
Saugus' Parents Advisory Commit-
tee. Mr. Rohen Crozier and Mr.
