         The  regular  meeting  oc/thelscv  Historica·i  Society ~as  called  to  order  at  7:30  pm.  by
   President  Cynthia  Neal-Harris  in  the  main  reception  room  of  the  Newhall-Saugus-Valencia  Cham-
   ber  of  Commerce  building  1n  Newhall.

   Minutes  of  the  Dec.  4th,  1979  Meeting:  Approved  as  submitted  with  correction  noted  on  date
   of  survey  to  be  1900  survey  · instead  o·f  1990  svrvey  as  stated  under  the  Genec)logy  Report.

   Saugus  Depot  R-~-cJrt:  President  Harris  reported  that  a  letter  from  Richard  Hall,  Asst.  Mgr.  of
   the  So.  Pacifi:  Tran~·'.':Orta"!:fa.·:  Co.  had  been  r.::cefved  . ,,Contents:  Donation  of  Depot  to  SCVHS
   given  on  the  conditio 1  thnt  i,t  be  removed  ~re r.  the  rail toad  property  within  6  months  from  the
   Jan.  ltt date      So.  Pacific  must  be'kept  informed  of  the  organization's  progress  in  securing
   rL_,.---,.)urces  nece  .ary  to  relocat_e  the  bt~~dinJ.  Once  the  t,uilding  is  removed,  SP.will  execute  a
   b     of  sale  c;;iweyl ng  it to  the  SCVHS  ·.r1  the  form  of  a  donation.  A request  to  obtain  security

   Action:  The  or"  ·Jdent  Tom  Mason  and  the  SCVl-!S  -at,tdrney,J'!ill  meet  with  owners  of  Clanton
   Block  to  worl,.  t  details  of  tranfer1ing  the,building.  The  SCV  Sheriff's  Dept.  and  Landmark
  -~trol  were  con-1:acted  to  tnsure  security  enforcement  and  surveillance.  The  President  added
   that  ''fundraise~s  a-    enty" ·would  be  needed  to  raise  enough  monies  to  move  and  repair  the

   January ·P~9y      :  Th~  Jan.  16th  Program  will  be  a  film  and  presentation  about  the  History  of
   Antelope  Va:  :2y.  Betty  Pember  will  secure  program  arrangements.  AS  this  will  be  the  Annual
   Election  ,  ballots  will  be  distributed  ~t  the  meeting.  This  represents  a  change  in  last  year's
   procedure  to  mail  out  ballots  and  allow  proxy  voting.  R~ason:  Not  enough  time  to  return  proxy
   votes.  Motion:  To  dispense  with  absentee  ba11ots  made  by  Alberta  Knoch,seconded  by  M1mi  Wh1te.
