WELCOME FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORSII
It is a great pleasure to welcome all of tonight's guests to an extraordinary event. This
evening we will honor a great lady, Ruth Newhall, who has meant so much to the entire
Santa Clarita Valley, and we'll. celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Boys and Girls
Club, an organization that has enriched the lives of literally tens of thousands of
youngsters.
It is also a privilege to have you be present this evening.
First of all, the Boys and Girls Club is honored to have many Newhall family members
present. We are grateful for the opportunity to express to you our deep appreciation for
the guidance and generous services granted to the entire community by Ruth.
Represented in this "Ballroom" are many of the organizations, companies and
individuals who have contributed their energies - sweat, tears and money over the
years to create this very special place to live and work - the Santa Clarita Valley. Most
of the guests here this evening have worked with Ruth Newhall in the development of
their special projects. Many have received specific benefits from her which have
enhanced their endeavors. Through these combined efforts you have created this truly
unique valley. Thank you!.
The Boys and Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley is one of those youth organizations
that has helped shape and define the character of the Valley. It began in 1968 with 200
who attended club offerings at the Pardee house on Newhall Avenue and Market Street,
under the direction of Bob Ross. It has become a prominent force helping thousands of
young people from its multiple satellite locations to the newly built central facility here
in Newhall.
The Club extends a heartfelt Thank You to Ruth Newhall for her years of dedication and
generosity, and sincere appreciation to you, the audience, who have been strongly
supportive of the aims and ideals of this Club throughout the years.
As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Club, we are also
celebrating you, the community!
