Generic postcard from May(?) K(eeler) to Mrs. C.M. Keeler of Haskings, Wood County, Ohio, postmarked Newhall, Calif., January 5, 1914.

Edgar B. Lewman was the postmaster at the time; the post office was located inside his general store on Railroad Avenue, which had been George Campton's general store in the 1800s. Later that year, Albert Swall (whose grocery store was down the block) and other merchants would move to Spruce Street, and in January 1915, the post office would move to Swall's Spruce Street location, with Swall as postmaster.

This postcard reads (more or less) as follows: Dear Mother — We haven't received our package(?) from you yet, so thought we had better let you know so you could look it up. We have been real worried over it. We are all well, only [?]. Lovingly, May K.
