CHiPs 1979

Sierra Highway scene from "CHiPs" (NBC 1977-1983), starring Larry Wilcox as Officer Jon Baker and Eric Estrada as Officer Frank Poncherello, produced by MGM Television.

Season 2, Episode 16: "Pressure Point" with guest stars Rudy Vallee and Mary Crosby. Paul Nuckles is the stunt coordinator. Episode premiered January 20, 1979.

This weird low-speed chase scene and subsequent slow-motion rollover and explosion takes place on Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, from a point north/east of the 14 Freeway bridge at Via Princessa to a point south/west of Whispering Leaves Drive — over and over again, and sometimes in the wrong direction. Maybe they didn't think audiences would notice how many times they saw the sign for the Beale's Cut steakhouse at Princessa (formerly Tip's, later Cal Islands) or the Texaco and Union 76 stations where gas was 74.9 cents a gallon.
