I. Rubber ducky, you're the one. Christy Turcios spent her summer in the pools
of Culver City teaching kids ages three to twelve how to swim and dive as one of
the municipal pool's very own life guards. 2. Surfin' USA Brett Geyer shows off
his surfing skills on the waves of San Diego. He has been surfing since elementary school
and goes every summer. On his school breaks he also enjoys fishing and snowboarding.
3. Colors of the Wind. Brain Wade, Jonny Papa, and Mark Kacena went to Warped
Tour with their multi-colored friends to see AFIand Pennyvvise. There were a total
of I 05 bands performing including Ataris, Less Than Jake, Midtown, The Misfits, and New
Found Glory. 4. How's the air up there? Sheila Jafari went to a camp in Tahoe
where she hiked, made huts, and faced one of her biggest fears, heights. While attached
to cords she walked across a rope 75 feet in the air and then free fell off. 5. Ride
'em Cowgirls! Heather Frisch and the rest of her drill team won first place in the
Western States Junior Drill Team Championship. As a result of this achievement, her
drill team got to open for the Reno Rodeo with their winning drill which was shown
live on ESPN. 6. Land ahoy! On a two week trip to Europe, Mackenzie Bear,
Jordan Deans, Ashley Hansen, and Carly Stanford visited Buckingham Palace where they
tried to make the guards laugh. They also enjoyed a two and a half hour boat ride
from Ireland to Wales. 7. Summer Catch. Kris Miranda says he met the most
beautiful girl in the world this summer. He says "thanks" to Kim for everything and
that he will always be there for her.
