Dennis Koontz

Dennis Michael Koontz (b. November 19, 1939). Resident of Valencia during council service. Santa Clarita City Council member, 1987-1990.

[2013] — Dennis retired from the Los Angeles City Fire Department as a Fire Captain. He worked on the City Formation Committee and was elected to the first City Council of the City of Santa Clarita 1987. Dennis enjoyed working to build a new city that he is very proud of today.

Dennis took his firefighter experience to Valencia High School and worked as the Health Assistant for more than 15 years. He "retired" in 2010 but continues to cover dances as well as sporting events.

Dennis married Linda Storli, a city Parks and Recreation commissioner, in 1990. Both are involved with civic affairs in the city of Santa Clarita. They volunteer for the SCV Boys and Girls Club, the Senior Center, the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade, and Dennis was Santa Claus for Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and Santa Clarita’s Zonta Club fundraisers. They have helped raise thousands of dollars for charity over the past 22 years. They also began selling real estate in the early 1990s and became Realtors. They now work as the Storli-Koontz Realty Team.
