[City of Santa Clarita 2008] —
Laurie Ender joined the City Council in April 2008. Although she is the newest addition to the City Council team, Ender is no stranger to the City of Santa Clarita, having served as a Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commissioner since 2003 and as chairman of the Commission during 2006-2007. Laurie is proud to have worked with the Commission on key projects such as the design and construction of Todd Longshore Park, Veterans Memorial Plaza and Valencia Heritage Park.
Laurie served as the president of the Santa Clarita Valley Council PTA for two years, providing leadership for its 30,000 local members and its individual units which span from Castaic to Canyon Country. During her tenure, the SCV Council PTA was awarded the top honor in the state from the California State PTA in 2005.
Currently, she serves on the Executive Board of the SCV Council PTA as well as on the City's Blue Ribbon Task Force, the Board of Managers for the Santa Clarita YMCA, Valencia High School's Action Team for Partnership and as an advisory board member for both the Child and Family Center and the Betty Ferguson Foundation.
As a part of the City Council, Laurie hopes to work closely with her fellow council members, City staff and other community leaders to preserve and improve the quality of life for Santa Clarita residents. Whether it's building parks and roads, improving health care options, or supporting essential efforts like graffiti removal and the Anti-Gang Taskforce, Laurie sees a bright future for the community.
Prior to leaving the workplace to raise her three children and become a community advocate, Laurie was a producer for the popular news magazine "Entertainment Tonight" and was one of the original producers for NBC's nationally syndicated television series "Access Hollywood." She is a graduate of Pepperdine University with a degree in Broadcasting. Laurie and her husband, Chris, are 16-year residents of Santa Clarita and live in Valencia with their three children, Jason, Griffin and Davis.
