Acton, California, doubles for the fictitious town of El Camino, Nevada, where "a drifter, a drunk, a deputy, a reporter [Jessica Alba] and a single mom are about to experience a wild Christmas they never saw coming" in the 2017 Christmas special from Netflix, "El Camino Christmas."

Principal shooting is in the gas station/convenience store set at Middleton Ranch, 6201 Soledad Canyon Road, where the protagonist, Eric Roth (Luke Grimes), while searching for his father (Tim Allen), ends up barricaded with his hostages on Christmas Eve. Additional scenes are filmed along Sierra Highway and the general Acton area.

"El Camino Christmas" is directed by David E. Talbert and written by Theodore Melfi and Christopher Wehner. Credited cast includes Grimes, Alba, Allen, Dax Shepard, Kurtwood Smith, Emilio Rivera, Kimberly Quinn, Cooper Thornton, Sharon Madden, Michelle Mylett, Vincent D'Onofrio, John Posey, Ashton Essex Bright, Margarita Franco, Jessica Alba, Jimmy O. Today the Middleton Ranch is considered Acton; historically the area was the rail town of Ravenna.

As of 2017, Middleton Ranch, once known as Agua Dulce Movie Ranch, is owned by Daniel and Christine Selover, owners of Air Designs, a large prop house in Sun Valley. Their sons, Blake and Bevan, run the prop house while Dan and Christine manage Middleton Ranch.

Sets at Middleton Ranch include a large gas station, mini mart, diner with neon and illuminated signage on exterior, vintage gas station with neon lighting, ranch house with pool, cabin, vintage auto junk yard, several other buildings, dirt roads, two large flat tops surrounded by mountains with incredible views, with base camp and crew parking for large productions.
